A personal answer, usually within three days.
A referral practice for implantology in Amsterdam is looking for a head assistant for four days a week. You support the operations, make sure the surgical room is ready and keep the assistant team aligned.
What you’ll be doing
You set up the operating room according to the surgical protocol and assist with placing implants, bone augmentation and extractions. You know which instruments and materials go with which procedure.
You are the point of contact for the assistants. You teach new colleagues the surgical way of working, check the sterilisation and keep track of what needs to be ordered.
After the procedure you phone the patient or send the aftercare instructions, and you make sure the record is complete. Referring dentists get their feedback through you.
Who this suits
This suits you if you appreciate the tight, sterile work of surgery and like being in charge in a small team.
If you are looking for variety with check-ups and fillings, this is not the place for you. The work is specialised and the schedule is predictable.
What the practice offers
- Salary between € 3.600 and € 4.600 gross per month for 38 hours, plus 8% holiday allowance
- 28 to 36 hours a week, four days is ideal
- A settled team of five assistants under your coordination
- Training in surgical assistance and sterilisation paid for by the practice
- No evenings and no weekends
- Modern equipment, including a 3D X-ray machine
Education and experience
At least eight years’ experience as a dental assistant, part of it in a surgical setting or an implantology practice. You know the sterilisation protocols and can set up a surgical room independently. Experience in coordinating colleagues is required.
What you bring
You work precisely and you stay calm when a procedure doesn’t go as planned. You give colleagues clear instructions without bossing them about.
You talk easily with patients who are nervous about an operation. You put them at ease and explain what is going to happen.
Honestly: the work is repetitive. You do many procedures of the same kind, and if you are after variety, you will notice that after a few months.
