A practice in the centre of Maastricht is looking for a dental hygienist for two to three days. Lots of international patients, so you speak English every day.
What you’ll be doing
You treat a mixed group: students, expats and regular patients from the neighbourhood. Some of your conversations are in English.
Your clinic consists of routine check-ups, scaling and periodontal treatment. With international patients the explanation sometimes takes a little longer. They don’t always know Dutch dental care and want to know what is going to happen and why. You take the time to make that clear.
You work with the dentists on one shared treatment plan per patient. You discuss what you see, and together you decide who does what. That way the patient doesn’t have to tell their story twice.
Who this suits
This suits you if you like working with patients from many countries.
It also suits you if you want to work two or three days in your own room, right in the city centre. You need to be comfortable speaking English every day. If you would rather speak only Dutch with patients, a practice outside the centre is a better choice.

- Salary between € 3.200 and € 4.200 gross per month on a full-time basis, plus 8% holiday allowance

Education and experience
A BSc in Oral Hygiene. You speak Dutch and English. Your English doesn’t have to be flawless, but you need to be able to explain a treatment and give brushing instruction. Experience with periodontal treatment is useful.

You put people at ease, even when you don’t speak the same language.
You use simple words, show things in the mirror and check that the patient understands you. You are curious about people from different backgrounds. And you have no problem coming to work by bike or train.
Honestly: parking at the practice is difficult and expensive. Most colleagues come by bike or train.
