A practice in Utrecht is looking for a dental hygienist for three or four days a week. You work independently in a room of your own with a schedule of your own, and you have plenty of room for periodontology.
What you’ll be doing
You do routine check-ups and cleanings, and you treat patients with periodontitis following a fixed step-by-step plan. You explain to the patient what you see and how they can improve things at home.
You work together with the dentists. You refer on when you see something they need to treat and you get feedback on what has been done.
You get a schedule of your own with enough time per patient. There is time for an extended conversation about diet, smoking and brushing habits, because that is where the difference is made.
Who this suits
This suits you if you enjoy guiding patients over a longer period and you like doing periodontology.
You must like motivating and explaining. If you mainly want to treat many patients quickly, a practice with shorter appointments suits you better.

Education and experience
A dental hygienist qualification and BIG registration. You have at least two years’ experience, preferably with periodontal treatments. You work according to protocol and record your findings well in the patient file.

You keep your schedule up to date and you consult the dentist in good time when something comes up. You enjoy working in a team.
Honestly: the work involves a lot of conversations. Some patients change slowly, and that takes patience.
