A personal answer, usually within three days.
A referral practice for implantology in Amsterdam is looking for a dental assistant for three or four days a week. You assist with placing implants and learn the surgical side of the profession from an experienced team.
What you’ll be doing
You assist with placing implants, bone augmentation and extractions. You use suction, hold the tissues back and hand over instruments in the order the protocol prescribes.
Before and after a procedure you prepare the room and clear up. Instruments go through sterilisation, and you keep the logbooks so that every set can be traced.
You learn from the head assistant how to set up a surgical room and how to guide patients before and after an operation. After six months you may prepare a simple procedure independently.
Who this suits
This suits you if you want to deepen your skills and learn specialised surgical work. You are precise and don’t mind sterile working.
If you want to keep working broadly, with check-ups, fillings and prevention, a general practice suits you better. Here the work is specialised.
What the practice offers
- Salary between € 2.900 and € 3.600 gross per month for 38 hours, plus 8% holiday allowance
- 24 to 32 hours a week, three or four days
- A regular head assistant who gets you started
- Training in surgical assistance paid for by the practice
- No evenings and no weekends
- A small practice with a settled team
Education and experience
A dental assistant qualification and at least two years’ experience at the chair. Experience with surgical assistance is a plus but not required; the practice trains you for it. You work according to protocol and can work precisely in a sterile environment.
What you bring
You are eager to learn and you keep asking when something isn’t clear. You work calmly and in an orderly way, even when a procedure makes the patient nervous.
You keep the logbooks and the records tidy. In surgery, every set must be traceable.
Honestly: the work is narrow. The practice does almost only implantology, so you get little exposure to regular dentistry.
