A practice in Hilversum is looking for a locum dental hygienist for two days a week, for about three months, to cover a maternity leave.
What you’ll be doing
You take over the dental hygienist’s schedule: check-ups, scaling and periodontal aftercare. The schedule is full, so you start with patients straight away on your first day.
Many patients have been seeing this dental hygienist for some time and have a treatment plan under way. You read up through the records, continue the aftercare and note down what you do. That way your colleague can see after the leave how each patient has got on.
You work on a self-employed basis and invoice by the hour. You agree in advance with the practice which two days you will come, so that patients know where they stand. You take X-rays with the machine that is there. It is old and sometimes takes a little more patience.

Education and experience
A BSc in Oral Hygiene and experience as a self-employed professional. You have your own registration and arrange your own insurance. You have worked in unfamiliar practices before and can get started with existing records without a long induction.

You pick up someone else’s schedule without the patients noticing.
You stick to the existing treatment plans and change nothing without consultation. You keep tidy records, so your colleague can read everything back after the leave. And you aren’t thrown by equipment that is a bit older.
Honestly: the X-ray machine is old. Replacement is planned.
